OK, so is this 'applications' or 'Mac OSX' forums, or neither probs, so sorry but its kind of related to apps, even though its technically not a mac program.

I used to use cherry os on my windows box to run OSX on it, but after a virus i lost all my data, and hence the program. I cant find it anywhere on the net, and I dont like the alternative, pearPC. So can anyone tell me where to get hold of 'Cherry OS'

Thanks

You are aware that Cherry OS was a scam that stole open source software, right?

Installing and running OS X on a PC is illegal and therefore you are asking us to aid you in software piracy which is a. against the rules and b. most people have ethics against that sort of thing.

Cheers

If he buys the copy of OSX, it doesn't really bother me what Apple says - why worry about what computer he installs it on?

Ya cherry OS is a rip off. Configuring pearpc is very easy. Not sure what problem you're running into. Its just one text file where you're editing the location of the OSX 'disk', specifying the CDROM drive letter on your local system and thats about it.

Do a search on pearpc installer. Someone make an installer that I think helps set up some of it for you.

That's kinda strange, considering CherryOS is PearPC aside from a different GUI.

Anyways, rather than CherryOS, I would suggest using the PearPC installer by Prasys. It'll automatically configure the PearPC file, setup networking, and create the image file for you. All you gotta do is install OSX.

Plus if he were wanting to go the illegal route, it isnt hard to find the x86 versions of OS X, even the most recent version has been leaked and hacked to work, and it's 1000x faster than pearpc . So I say: let him have his emulated OS X.

Agreed. After all, that was my first experience in OS X (good GOD Panther runs slow in PearPC), and I'm almost fully converted now... in spirit, anyway (still can't afford to pick up that sexy iBook that I want oh so badly...).

I am *so* impressed with harrisjamieh; that set-up must be glacial (at best) and yet you're doing it. Wow! That's dedication! Go for it!
