sposed to be like MS word (office)
i'm int'd cuz, as has been posted & discussed ad nauseum here, for huge docs., the latest versions of word are simply TOO SLOW
curious if anyone thinks (or knows from experience or gen'l knowledge) if this thinkfree would be faster for these big word (& word-type) docs
thanks

Well hopefully it would improve your use of the English language
Only kidding. I have tried the demo version of the app and it's pretty rough around the edges and too similar to NeoOffice to be worth spending the money on.
The only real benefits between it and NeoOffice are the Aqua appearance, however it's not really done that well and looks like a very bad hack.

NeoOffice: the startup time is a bit slow due to it using java and it can be a bit slow
Thinkfree: Startup very slow due to it running through X11 ( i think, can't quite remember) and its pretty sluggish to type with
You should bear in mind that a lot of diagrams and other 'advanced' features don't do crossover to well between MS Office and these immitations.
hope that helps

There are only two reasons not to use MS Office:
1) You don't want to support Microsoft/Closed Source
2) You can't afford MS Office
I in NO WAY like Microsoft, but Office is a solid application. Sluggish at times... yes, but a solid application. IMHO, it's the best thing to come out of Redmond.

yeh, well, like i said, i have these 2 HUGE docs that i work with all day, every day, and since OS 9 word became OS X word, they went from instant scrolling/changes/etc., to.....wait.... wait..... wait..... OK, now, etc.

You mentioned the latest versions are slow. Have you updated to the most current version of Office? When I first updated to Tiger, Office slowed down, especially Word. I found a lot of things worked better and quicker after I installed the updater.

Plus, I can't imagine a document working its way from Word in OS 9 all the way thru OS X without something happening along the way.
I have a real long document (specification) that we use all of the time. After a while of revising it, (a couple of years) we finally had to have it completely retyped from scratch because it had become corrupt somewhere along the way. Now works like a champ and is for some reason much smaller in size! Go figure.
