So I'm in the process of getting the second season of Alias from teh intarweb at the moment. However, the files are ".rmvd" files. They're about 180 megs each. The quality's pretty decent, and it was a smaller and faster download than .avis or mpgs, so I figured I'd go for it.

I just opened the first episode. At full-screen the audio is fine but the video is a skipping frames a lot, although the quality looks pretty good. At smaller sizes it seems to smooth out a little, but still gives the occasional hiccup.

I'm on a G4 Quicksilver (867 MHz, 684 megs ram, etc. etc. etc.). Is my machine just not powerful enough to run the files full-screen?? I don't have any problems with avi's or other media types. Or is this a Realplayer thing? As far as I know there aren't any Mac alternatives to Realplayer (like VLC, etc.), but if anyone has an idea I've appreciate it.

Now, back to the first season of Lost. Damn. I've never owned a TV in my life, and my friend decided to bring over his first season of Alias DVDs so we could drink and celebrate the end of midterms. Now I'm pathetically hooked!
