sometimes i wanna view some movie on line

like a movie trailer or some such

and it'll tell me "no wmv detected; click here for latest (needed) version

but i've got the latest version

why can't these sites tell that?

any experience/info/helpful suggestions would be appreciated

thanks

You probbaly copied the WMP program from somewhere else. WMP installs a plugin or something (forgot) which is needed if you want to view some media from a browser. Just reinstall WMP and see.

Those web-sites do this because their plug-in detection technique works on Windows only.

ah, so it'll always be a problem, i guess

mindwaves, i DID re-install and it did let me view the video, but it still gave me a (different) "you don't have/or we can't tell which version/proper version of WMV player" error msg. it let me click on a [go to video anyway] button, and it worked

i think tetenal's assessment is final - - there will always be probs of one type or another in this area for we mac folk
