speakers are on loud. i can play itunes and hear it. the volume in the max in ichat > preferences > alerts and i can here the preview sound when you click the drop down menu... but i can't here any sound that ichat makes!

Not in the alerts tab but in the video tab there is a dropdown menu to choose the output device. My guess is that you have it sending the ichat sounds somewhere else. For example, I have my ichat set to output to my m-audio revolution card, but for the input use the isight (as opposed to the revolution card).

<s>i'm running into the same problem! i'm guessing it has something to do with running 10.2.8 and the most recent ichat that will run on this, and it will be solved by my new ibook, but just a little annoyed that it's not working properly because i forget i'm talking to people!

any advvice? i've looked everywhere i've thought of but all the settings seem right. i hear sound when i send outgoing messages, but nothing when they reply.</s>

edit: nevermind, i double checked my prefs and one little checkbox was throwin it all off!
