My MS Office alert sounds have suddenly disappeared! I first noticed it in Entourage, but Excel and Word sounds also don't work any more. I'm on the latest version of Tiger (10.4.3) on a SuperDrive Mac mini. I've checked sound preferences in both OS X and the various MS Office applications, everything's turned on.

Other sound functions aren't affected, it's only Office....anyone have any ideas....???

I don't know how you did it, but if someone figures it out, please post the "muting" solution that you inadvertently discovered!
