For an iBook still running on 10.1.4, where can I find virus protection for my sister? (NOTE: upgrading of the system is not happening right now, so comments about that aren't going to help)
I tried mentioning that Macs do not get viruses, but I was overruled and told that virus protection must be acquired.
Help. Please.

Tell her in no uncertain terms: There are no viruses. Try repeating it until it sinks in.
If it's absolutely necessary, then ClamAV is free and seems to be highly spoken of; I've no idea if it'll run on Puma (10.1) though.

ther'es also virex.
or you can write an applescript that does nothing but show up in the dock or menu, and give it an icon with an antivirus feel.

While esXXI is currently correct that there are no viruses for OS X (any version), that does not mean that there is no reason to have antivirus software. Eventually somebody WILL come up with a virus and everyone who has the mantra "There are no viruses." will be very unhappy.
Virex is an option. Or just search for "OS X" and "antivirus" and see what free apps come up. There are several out there. Or you can buy Symantec's (NOT the "Norton" product!) Antivirus or Symantec Corporate Security for Mac-expensive, but they work and don't hose your machine like Norton seems to do.
At the present time, the biggest benefit in having an AV package on a Mac is that you won't accidentally pass stuff to your Windows-using acquaintances.
