I just found the program ATIccellerator, and it looks pretty sweet! Finally a way to deal with the rather weak Radeon 9550 in iBooks!

Now before I start tweaking and overclocking my iBook, I want to know if anyone has used it on their iBook. Anyone fry any cards? What's a good, glitch-free overclock percentage?

Any reviews and/or comments are greatly appreciated. I am no h4x0r so I don't wanna break anything!

Interesting. I do find the 9550 acceptable good for my needs. If anything it could do with 64 MB RAM. Overclocking is nice and nerdy, but as long as I am not desperate I'll sit on the sideline so to speak.

I suspect this program is relatively safe to use at least for short periods of time to see how it works since there is no flash ROM reprogramming involved. Still, no need to do this unless one needs to (for some reason) or wants to (for geeky reasons).

cheers

I'm curious. What sort of benefits does this provide?

Well if you guys search there's a couple of threads about this program and apparently it makes regular tasks (web browsing, finder stuff) more responsive, and there's a noticable difference in video games and programs with heavy video rendering. I don't play many games, but I love photoshop and flash and watching a lot of movies.

I do agree for 32mb of memory the 9550 isn't bad, however it should have been 64mb imo... Overclocking it will at least make it feel more like an untouched 64mb. You just have to make sure not to go too far because it will make all these weird artefacts and glitches show up in video games, however the program has a revert to default button. Also, if you go WAY too high you'll just fry the card, but that's what you get when you're being too greedy. I'll try it out, and move up at like 5% increments, and stay at 20%-25% max.

There's a program Graphicellerator, by the same guy, and it does flash ROM programming. Unfortunately the 9550 isn't supported, so that's why I'm going to try the ATIccellerator.

I can notice my graphics card is struggling when I want to use photoshop or flash. Also, when watching some movies like .avi and .wmv. Plus, I use ShapeShifter so that probably slows the system a tad...
