I have alot of home video to edit and currently use iMovie. I'm planning on upgrading to either a PM 2.3 or a quad. Is FC express optimized to use multiprocessors? I know that iMovie is not.

What is the learning curve like for FC express? I'm used to iMovie and would like a bit more control and features but wouldn't need the ful suite of options. Can i quickly get up and running and learn as I go?

is FCE compatible with iDVD?

thanks

Apple's Final Cut Express site answers many of your questions.

Macintosh computer with a 500MHz or faster PowerPC G4 or G5 processor (550MHz for PowerBook G4 or iBook G4, 450MHz for dual PowerPC G4 or G5) is a strong indication that Final Cut Express is multithreaded.

Export to DVD
Final Cut Express HD makes it easy to turn your completed movie into a pro-quality DVD by letting you export chapter markers for DVD Studio Pro or iDVD.

They also have a list of the advantages and limitations of Final Cut Express compared to iMovie.

Thanks! I know, I should have done a bit more homework, but I was also hoping for some real-world input from someone whomade the switch.
