Guys could really do with some help - I have a Giganews account, I use Newzbin.com, I can find whatever I want, I can download using Unison, but then I am basically stuck.
In my download folder I now have two folders, one full of RAR files, one full of PAR2 files.
Simply using UnrarX on the RAR files results in over 99 errors, mostly "CRC Failed".
As I understand it the PAR2 files are some sort of error checking file, which supposedly UnrarX can use to fix the damaged RAR files, so I try them in UnrarX.
No joy on any of the PAR2 files - instead I get the message:
"No new packets found
Main packet not found."
I have no idea about any of this. I have also tried MacPar Deluxe, when I choose Open and Recover on the PAR2 it tells me "All Files Checked Out Fine", but it also fails to unpack the RAR files.
I'm not missing any pieces, but I am missing a trick - I do not believe it is that unusual to use Usenet on a Mac, surely somebody out there can help.
