Ok....So I bought iLife 05 and upgraded from whatever I had that came with my powerbook (back in Jaguar days)then had all my pictures in there working fine, then lost the iLife software in a move.
About 2 months ago, I had a little scare where my laptop would not boot up, I managed to save my pictures and then reformatted.
Now, I am back to my original software for iLife and when trying to import my pictures it says I cannot open them because I modified them using a newer version and to use the latest software....
How can I modify the files so I can open them in the iLife I currently have until I can afford to buy the newest software?
Thanks

i don't think you can.
With the new iPhoto versions, and if i am correct, even some point updates it does some work on your iphoto collection.
I am pretty sure i have a few legal copies (separate copies) of iLife 05 at home. What is your address and I will mail you the dvd. (i may be completely wrong and then i apologize, but i'm pretty sure i have a few copies (bought it, and about 3 computers since then)

My guess is that your older copy of iPhoto is trying to read the xml files created by the newer version- which will not work at all. Have you tried pulling all of the plain image files out of the iPhoto Library folder and then re-importing those pictures into iPhoto? One way to do this is to perform a search for all the image files in your directory, and then copying the results of that search into a new folder, then dragging that folder into your current copy of iPhoto.
You will lose your album settings, as well as other valuable meta information, because that info is contained in the iPhoto-generated text files inside your iPhoto Library folder. Someone correct me if I am mistaken about this last point, or if there is another way to downgrade an iPhoto library.

Is it really so hard to use good thread titles?
The updated rules have title guidelines.

The first post says you BOUGHT iLife 05, why can't you just re-install it again on top of the old one. So what happened to the iLife 05 you purchased, or am I not reading that right?

Yeah, anyway, if you can't get ahold of a newer version of iLife soon enough (though it's been 2 months since this topic was posted, dunno why it was brought back up), you could navigate into your backed up iPhoto files and grab the original image files (be they JPEG or whatever) and manually import them into your current copy of iPhoto.
