I just installed DivX 6, logged out and logged back in. Now some mpeg files that QuickTime played just fine have lost their sound when played through QT. Has anyone else seen this? Could it be that DivX's MPEG codec is taking over for the default QuickTime one, and it's not as good?

While we're at it, anyone have any thoughts on the new DivX in general?

Some avi files are also muted, although this problem was ever present since upgrading to QT 7.

Weird. I fixed this by uninstalling DivX, but jjlannoo, you mentioned in another thread that just launching GarageBand fixed your problem.. Did you have DivX 6 installed at all?

Maybe I'll try reinstalling it and launching GarageBand to see if my movies magically work.

It was divx 6 that screwed it up...I'm pretty sure anyways. I had forgotten That was the last thing I installed. I didn't have it installed when I did the garageband fix as I already tried deleting all my media players.
