importing email photos to iphoto help

Hi everyone

I would like some help with iphoto2....... I received email photos from friends and when I try to import them to iphoto it come up with unreadable files..... but if I click on the photos they open with preview.... the extentions on the photos are jpg......

Also I moved the photos from my email to the picture folder on my hard drive........

I would like to know if there is anyway to get these photos in to iphoto....
