Is it still just too early? Or is it just because everyone's foaming at the mouth about Intel Macs? I actually really wanna know what's coming with iWork and iLife '06, since I may well buy 'em both if one app from each gets some good new features.

Anyone seen anything on one of the more obscure rumor sites? 'Cause I'm getting antsy here.

Mods: if this belongs in the lounge, please move it with my humblest, um, kowtowing.

So far I've read speculation surrounding

iWork 2.0- Hopefully a Spreadsheet, Drawing and Database app are added to beef up the suite.

iLife 06- not much info gleaned. I'm guessing more support for Core OS X technologies

Front Row 2.0- Beefed up functionality and hopefully a DVR for recording.

If Apple could nail these apps and give a preview of Leopard 10.5 with a new revamped Finder and consistent UI I'd be happy as a clam.

alphasubzero949: uh, thanks. I know about those. I was just bitching that nobody seems to want to talk about apps. It's all, "Hardware hardware hardware..." Man, can't a feller start a bitch-fest around here without getting snide replies?

I doubt they'll preview Leopard. I thought they were gonna showcase it to devs in June, meaning that's when people would start thinking about getting apps ready for it. It'd be nice to be wrong, though.

I guess TS did mention Front Row 2.0. Sounds like a good deal if it either came as part of iLife or bundled with an a-la-carte remote. Which should obviously be bluetooth, to avoid hogging folks' ports, which would then beg the question of why the iMac remote wasn't BT. But I'm digressing into hardware.

iWork 2.0: I don't use spreadsheets but I hope it gets one, because it might make folks take it more seriously, which would increase my expectations for Apple to keep making it better..

iLife '06: I want to see better RAW handling in iPhoto. Hopefully they could do this without worrying about cannibalizing Aperture. Should be possible; I bet most of the people who'd get really excited about better iPhoto RAW were not gonna spend $500 on Aperture anyway..

I don't use iMovie or iDVD enough to know what to wish for, but I might get around to picking up a DV camcorder this year. What do all y'all really want to see in 'em?

My guess is that althought they don't preview the whole of Leopard Apple will replace the god awful finder with something befitting of OS X. If Apple waits to WWDC they will not likely have a huge amount of new stuff in 10.5 because that gives developers only 6 months to get their code ready.

I think eventually Apple will be moving to RF or Wireless USB (WUSB) for control. I'm a bit concerned about BT range.

As for iWorks Spreadsheet. I probably wouldn't use it that much but if they employ technology similar to Improv or Quantrix (www.quantrix.com) I could become pretty proficient.

I'd love to see iLife continue to integrate very well. Core Image/Video support and Core Data support as well as Universal Binary.

I'm sure Apple will have some surprises. I'm just at a lost to come up with many more suggestions.
