This is BAD.
I had Mail set up to read two IMAP accounts. iTunes did something weird and my whole system hung so I had to restart my Mac, and ever since, whenever I open Mail, it quits within a few seconds. During that time I'm able to click on things, then it just up and quits.
I have deleted the preferences file. I have deleted the mailbox files and folders in ~/Library/Mail. I have accessed the IMAP accounts via webmail and deleted the most recent messages. I can access both accounts via Entourage, but Entoruage sucks and can't see the subfolders in my inbox, so I need to get Mail working again.
Any ideas? I'm running 10.4.3 on a 12" powerbook 867 MHz.
Thanks!

PS I should add that just out of curiosity, I unplugged the ethernet cable, and lo and behold, Mail did not crash. I plugged it back in, and Mail crashed as it was trying to connect to the second IMAP account. (the one with the inbox subfolders)
What's the deal? I have been using Mail with these accounts and these settings for a couple years now with no problems. Why is it crashing all of a sudden?

Looks like I'm talking to myself but... I discovered Mozilla Thunderbird, which is working with both accounts with no problems, and handles IMAP a lot better than Mail ever did. So, problem solved.

not that I have an answer for you but I just want to confirm if you disabled/removed the second account then Mail wouldn't crash on startup?

When I disabled the second account, it wouldn't crash... as much. With the second account enabled, it crashed 100% of the time. With it disabled, it crashed about 10% of the time, mostly when I clicked on IMAP folders other than the inbox. With both accounts disabled, or airport/ethernet disabled, it doesn't crash at all. But I am able to read and move files and everything in Thunderbird with no problems at all. Thus, I have removed the Mail icon from my dock and switched to Thunderbird.
