I have a copy of MS Office and it has three licenses to split amongst the house. The question is how do I know what are the license #s already installed on the two other laptops in the house so that I don't get the notice from the program saying it won't open due to someone already using that license #?

Thanks

Cant you just put in a number, and if it comes up as 'used' then just type in another one?

No.

But if you have a license that allows three concurrent users, I would think that it would allow three users to run it simultaneously before saying that you exceeded the maximum number.

(On account of my school's site license, I was fortunate enough to get the "institutional" site-license version of Office that has the license key already embedded in the installer, and has no network serial checking.)

My Office Education Edition had three different license codes to enter. I entered each on a different system. If you enter the same one on all the systems, you'll be butting heads across a network.
I am stupidest when I try to be funny.

When you entered the three different codes on the three machines, did you make a note as to which machine gets which code? Unfortunately I didn't. What my question is is how do you know which machine has which code so I'm not "butting heads" over a network.

Thanks

What is weird about Office, it won't show you anywhere what your license is. That kinda stinks for the honest user.

Just use a firewall program like Little Snitch or Brickhouse to block outgoing ports 2222 UDP and 3464 TCP. That should solve your problem.
