Quicktime has a sharpen filter. You just export the video and under the filter setting, choose sharpen and pick a level that suits you. If you have an mpg, it's a bit awkward because you can't export to mpeg. You'd have to export the video to a format that wouldn't lose much detail (like dv maybe) then convert back to mpeg with say ffmpegx, then demux the original mpeg to get the audio track using bbdemux and finally remux the original audio and sharpened video using mpeg streamclip.

You can probably apply a sharpen effect using imovie too.

Once image quality on your por^H^H^Hvideos goes away, there is no good way to restore it properly.

If you are talking about image quality on a low resolution video then you are probly out of luck.

You may find an application that does a better job of decoding and displaying it depending on the codec - try vlc or ... rats, there is another one but I can't remember it's name.

I hate to say it but some files that look like crap on my ibook look great and play at full speed using vlc on my 600Mhz intel box running linux. some codexes are better optimized for X86
You can take the dude out of So Cal, but you can't take the dude outta the dude, dude!
