I'm a long-time Flash user (since version 4) and I have just switched back to Apple (I have a new 20" iMac G5 w/ iSight). Today I wanted to start my new website project, which involves using Flash. The first time I loaded Flash 8, it worked without a hitch - Long enough for me to make a quick document. I then closed that document and I wanted to create a new one. After trying to access the menus using my mouse (Mighty Mouse), I got the spinning beach ball and the Dock listed the program as not responding. I did a force quit, and tried to load the program a few more times and everytime it looked like it would load correctly, but then freeze before display the welcome menu. No matter where I tried to click, the spinning beach ball is there right from the start. I did restart the system in the middle of all of those trials to see if that helped, but it didn't.
I re-downloaded the installer to use the "uninstall" option. Then I installed it again, booted up the program and again, right from the start, it freezes. I had read elsewhere that Mac users were experiencing problems with Flash, although MOST of the comments were old and pertained to Flash MX and Flash MX 2004.
I DID do a search on this topic here and one other person fixed their problem by uninstalling their Wacom driver. I do use a Wacom tablet as well, but before I go uninstalling that, I'd REALLY like to know if anyone else is having this problem. I'm not sure if this matters, but my tablet is not actually plugged in right now. Everytime I tried to use Flash, it was not plugged in. I'd really rather not uninstall that thing considering I bought it with the desire to use it FOR Flash (and Illustrator)...
PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF ANYONE ELSE IS HAVING AN ISSUE WITH FLASH 8 ON MAC OS X! Thanks everyone.
