I have posted about this problem once before, but I seem to notice it a lot more now. When I download a lot of files...ending in .exe or .dmp, it asks me to open the program with a text file and I cannot run the program. Am I missing a program? or does anyone know what I can do to get my programs up and running?

Seriously?

.exe is a Window's file. OSX can not open it.

Yep, .exe files are Windows executable files, and cannot be used on a Mac. The sole exception is some types of self-extracting ZIP archives, which can be opened with Stuffit Expander.

Let me guess - Microsoft Messenger auto-update?

I have no idea what those are either. MS Messenger is the only time I've ever seen .bin.uncompressed. If my surmise was correct, your best bet would be to go to http://www.microsoft.com/mac and download the software manually.

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!
