My Canon EOS Capture software won't work on either my Mac OS X 2.3 or Windows XP computer. I'm using the version from the Canon 10.1 solution disk that came with my Rebel XT.
When I click on the icon to start the program in OS X, the icon just bounces once or twice on the dock, and nothing else happens.
On XP. When I click on the icon, the hour glass appears for a second, then disappears. The program never starts.
I went to the Canon website and downloaded their newest versions of Capture, but the exact same thing happened. Anyone know what's wrong?

Go to Application->Utilities and launch Console. See if there are any error messages.

You might try to fix your permissions as I have had it fix things for me. I do it after I install all software. It might help.

Are you really running 10.2.3? If so, update to 10.2.8 and try again- it's dramatically better, though 10.3 or 10.4 would be further improvement.
If the Rebel includes Digital Photo Professional, launch that (get the updater for that too) and launch EOS capture from there; I've found that's more reliable than trying to launch Capture on its own, and I have no idea why that's the case.
As a final check, the Rebel isn't mounting your storage card on the desktop when its connected via USB is it?

I launched it from Digital Photo Professional, and the program started up correctly. But then I got this error message: Camera is not recognized.
And no, the Rebel isn't mounting my SD card on the desktop.
