I can't believe that I must be doing something so stupid.

I can't find the 'Partition Tab' in Disk Utility. I have a brand new Maxtor 200gb drive that came pre-formatted for Mac. It mounts fine.

I want to format it with a 40 g bootable partition to match that on my 15in iMac FP OSX 10.4.3 system drive and leave the rest for spare stuff.

So the instructions with the Maxtor and Disk Utility help tell me to Click the Partition tab, etc. etc.

I can't find it in Disk Utility version 10.5.3.

What am I missing?

TIA

You have to select the drive itself, not any of its partitions.
