Since I updated to 10.4.4, Firefox will sporadically jump up to 100% cpu usage and stay there until i restart the app - REALLY annoying and counterproductive. Even right now (with a single, static window open) it is idling at 20% usage.
Has anyone else noticed this or heard of an update to Firefox that might be upcomming? I checked the firefox sight but didn't see anything.

I'm running 10.4.4 and Firefox 1.5 is idling at 0.5% for me (800MHz G4). Have you installed any extensions recently? Are you looking at a page that has flash banners? Can you tell if it seems to be related to a certain site?

Weren't people reporting the same problem prior to 10.4.4? I've heard of it before but not sure of the cause.
FWIW, works fine here on 10.4.4.

the only page i had open was a macnn page i was typing in. There is a known problem with Firefox 1.5 where the cpu usage goes way up when you hold your mouse button down on the scroll bar, but this is different, just useage when idling. I never had this problem before I installed the update and no I haven't added any extensions recently.

What I've noticed is that when I use the quick reply or simply reading the forum my CPU usage is at 0.3%. When I use the advanced reply section it jumps to 14%. I believe this is because of all the animated gifs in the advanced reply section. I never really checked the CPU usage before, but everything seems to feel the same so I believe this was the amount used before upgrading to 10.4.4. I've never seen it go to 100% before.
