Since a while back last year, I lost the ability to watch
trailers (among other things) on the QuickTime website because I don't have QuickTime 7 (and H.264) installed. I know the obvious answer is "Upgrade!!11" but for different reasons, I had/have to hold on the upgrade option.
On some pages, I can track down the movie's URL in the webpage's source, but sometimes, the link toward the desired version (lilliputian, barely watchable, medium and full screen) is itself a QT7 movie, with embedded links, which cannot be interpreted by
VLC. And when I can download the movie directly on my hard disk, VLC has trouble playing it (often double image, colors distorded, etc).
It has gotten to the point that I can't even view
that page properly!

Has anyone found a way to install the appropriate codec without installing QT7, which require 10.3/4, which require... ? Thank you!
I'm using Mac OS X 10.2.8, QuickTime 6.5.2 and VLC 0.8.4.
