I am on 10.3.9 and just created a new systems folder.

I am now unable to get mail but I can receive mail. I have checked all my settings and they seem okay and my laptops can get the messages with the same info.

Would appreciate any advice.

Any thoughts on whether to buy a dual or wait for the intel chop?

Have you tried creating a new user account? That would help find out if it was a problem with the settings in your account, or a problem with your system install.

I have had the same problem since the New Year. Outgoing mail is fine, so my SMTP and email account must be OK, but it always fails on authentication with macmail's incoming pop server. I can access my mail via the web, so I am getting mail! I have tried re-installing Mail, deleting all plists first, but no difference. I have tried on two other newly built macs - same problem. I have also tried resetting my macmail password - didn't help. I set up Mail to access MacMail via IMAP instead, but I'd rather get the POP3 fixed. I emailed both Macmail support and their parent hoster Talia twice, and have not got a reply.

I am stunned that there aren't thousands of others in the same boat - there doesn't seem to be much on any forums from other users with this same problem. I am convinced the problem is at their end.

I'm running 10.4.4 on an imac G5, and have had no problems other than this with my macmail account I've had for around 4 years.

iainmcintosh......
You are not the only one. Thousands of people are unable to access Pop3 boxes on Macmail. It appears they Talia Directors have sold it for a shed load of money and the new owners don't really give a toss about customer service. OK you can still access through browsers, but No. For me and many, Pop3 is what we want. I have spoken to Talia and they say that they have passed on complaints and that is all they can do. You will also see a paragraph on the support section in Macmail in red stating they are dealing with problems and will going further to provide a "first class service". Believe it when I see it.
