Mail has suddenly started crashing immediately after opening. I did a search of the forums and saw the suggestion that a bad preference file may be the culprit, so I located the com.apple.mail.plist and drug it on to my desktop. Mail would then open but then I no longer had any of the emails that were in my inbox or sent folder.

Can someone please advise? Is there a way to locate or salvage those emails (inbox & sent folders) while creating a new preference file? One other thing. I now have a 'Delivered' folder (mailbox) that wasn't there before. Where did that come from?

Any chance you recently installed Flip4Mac?

Yes, has that caused a conflict with mail (with others)?

There is a serious problem with Mail. It crashed a hundred times with me as well.
So, first I deleted Flip4Mac. -> same problem.
I deleted plist -> Mail Enhancer doesn't work anymore

A friend told me later she had the same.

MacFixit has a small report as well about it.
Apple, are you going to fix this please???

Anyone has Mail Enhancer working again? I can't get it to work, so now no more small red mailcounts in the Dock icon

Now I cannot send mail out, although I could yesterday after setting up again my server settings.

This 10.4.4 is bad for Mail.

For the Mail Enhancer, I found this:
***********************************
Found this :

: It works on 10.4.1, just make this steps:

In Finder, rename folder ~/Library/Mail/Bundles (Disabled) to ~/Library/Mail/Bundles

In Terminal, type:
defaults write com.apple.mail EnableBundles 1

defaults write com.apple.mail BundleCompatibilityVersion 2

Relaunch Mail
