iTunes 6.0.2 now seems to support playback to more than one set of speakers.

When you have an AirPort Express in range and you click on the drop down list in iTunes to select the Airport Express to send music via AirTunes there is a new option of 'Multiple Speakers'.

If you select it you can the select the multiple speakers you want to play music to, including 'Computer'

The only problem is I can't get it to work. If I select my AirPort Express and the computer I get an error message about connecting to the remote speakers. If I just use the Airport Express it work fine.

Can anyone else get this to work, or has anyone tried sending music to two Airport Express units.

I have opened up the UPD Ports 6001 and 6002 and it now works fine.

It even manages to have the music in sync on the computer and the remote speakers.

I think I will now get an Airport Express for upstairs so I can have the same music all around the house.

I tried to find this, but I don't have any new option on my dropdown list. Did you have to enable any special preferences?

EDIT: solved, just needed to update the firmware on my airport express

WOW - this feature is INCREDIBLE. I have been waiting for this ... I can't believe it hasn't been published. Works flawlessly - thanks for pointing this out.

I can't get over how it syncs the music perfectly... too cool. Cheaper than buying a Bose multi-room system.

The multiple speaker function uses UDP and if you have it blocked it will not work.

1) Click on System Preferences
2) Click on Sharing
3) Click on Firewall
4) Click on Advance
5) Unclick UDP Traffic.

That should solve your problem.
