In keynote 3, what happened to the burn (transition) effect? That was such an awesome effect, why did they dump it? (Or is it simply missing on mine?)

I just called a tech from Apple support and he said that it appears that it was simply left out of Keynote 3... go figure! I do have a work around however. I opened one of my saved presentations from Keynote 2 that had some slides using the burn effect transition. I just drug those slides into my new presentation and the burn effect suddenly showed up in the menu (inspector pallet). If I delete the slides, it vanishes from the menu.

Couldn't you open up Keynote 2 (show package contents) and find the burn effect, then open up Keynote 3 and put it where the other effects are? Just wondering.

It's still included. Keynote > Preferences > Include obsolete animations in choices.

Weird. Didn't notice. Yesterday I opened a Keynote 2 presentation of mine and ran through it. It uses the 'burn' transition twice. Worked just fine.
I'll make sure I hit the "include obsolete" preference (why is it obsolete, though?).

I assume Apple did studies with the presentations and probably found that some effects were distracting too much from the content or looked to cheesy etc.

Previous (Keynote 2) presentations that used burn will work fine in Keynote 3. Try creating a brand new presentation in Keynote 3 and you'll discover that burn is not in the list of transitions. You'll definitely need to check the "include obsolete" preference.
