On my 1.8 GHz single processor G5 (Rev. A), iLife '06 won't install. It estimates 32 minutes for the install, then fails after about 5 minutes. Over and over and over again.
I'm about ready to trash everything on this G5 and start over - but what a pain!

Rather go off of the DVD, see if you can move the iLife.mpkg to your drive and install it.
Open iLife DVD --> cntrl-click the Alias -->Show original. Try copying that to the desktop and going from there.
If the copy fails you probably have a bad DVD. If it fails during the install, you have some kind of conflict.
Let us know how this pans…

I had a corrupt iLife '05 DVD, just wouldn't install.
Probably safer to take it back and change it.
I hate to mention this too but weren't some of your model G5's problamatic?
wasn't there a firmware upgrade released recently? I seem to remember something about this.
Anyway, good luck, I understand your frustration.

I went to the Apple store Monday with the express purpose of buying iLife '06, family pack. They had none in stock. Plenty of the singles, but no family. Came home and ordered on-line. Arrived today and went to install. Five times, it showed a "failed to install. Try again!" About ready to go back to the store to try to exchange and figured I'd try one more time and it worked!!! Didn't do anything different, except wiped a little smudge off the disk. Go figure!
Love the iPhoto full screen adjustments. It is faster. Haven't had much chance to play with the other apps.

My disc will install on my PowerBook just fine, but it won't install on my PowerMac G5. Go figure!

I had trouble with the install and ended up having to remove iPhoto first. Then install. It kept bombing on the isntalling of the iPhoto Additional Resources part.
There is a lot of talk of problems on the apple forums. You might search there if you're still having difficulties.

I use one of the problematic G5s, but the Rev A's were OK, then they discontinued the single processor G5 for a bit, then reintroduced it in late 2004 - these were the messed up versions, the ones with the 600 mhz FSB. FYI the firmware update did fix all the problems for me.
