Apple does not provide any registration keys for Mac OS 9 users anymore. I need to turn my QT 6.0.3 into QT Pro in order to convert some files.

Thanks for any input on this!

Did you buy QT 6 Pro on the web?

1. Buy a licence from Apple. They will send you a key.
2. Enter this registration key in the QuickTime Prefs.

Or: go on the Apple ftp. Navigate to ftp://ftp.apple.com/developer/Develo...Kits/QuickTime. Download Movieplayer 2.5.

Thanks guys, in particular for the movie player link. The web site gave me the impression they wouldn't care about QT 6 and Mac OS 9 anymore, but I will try to contact somebody in order to obtain a key.

Well, I don't want to shatter any misconceptions, but Apple has made the switch to OS X a few years ago, so obviously they don't have a large interest in supporting OS 9 forever. The last substantial update to OS 9 was 9.1 (9.2 was to establish compatibility as Classic environment) which was released January 2001, five years ago

Sure, I am quite aware of the age of my computer and I do not really intend to blame Apple; I just observe facts... Believe it or not but there is some software which has never made the transition to OS X, and during the G4 age, I never felt compelled to upgrade... First, no big step forward and in the last two years any Powerbook related keynote was just pathetic. The MacBook is something different, so let's see.
