Mail won't display new messages in bold

For some reason, Mail has stopped displaying new messages in bold and Junk messages are flagged, but are not highlighted in the brown color they were before. Has anyone seen this happen and have any ideas on how to fix it?

Nevermind. I am blind as a bat. I found the answer. There's an option under VIEWING in the preferences for "Display unread messages with boldl font." I don't know why that is unchecked or how I could have missed that.
