I don't get it. I made a widescreen DVD using iDVD '06 and it plays fine in widescreen on both my Macs.

However, it is 4:3 on my standalone DVD players. The strange part is that it isn't squished. The sides are cut off, as if the DVD player is defaulting to automatic pan & scan or something. I tried it on two different DVD players with the same result.

It seems I just wasted 2 hours making this DVD, which doesn't work properly.

Well, whaddya know. Apple's widescreen discs support automatic pan and scan. It's not a bug, it's a feature.

Who'da guessed the first disk where I've noticed this in 6 years is one I made myself.

There's probably a setting on your DVD player for something like this.

There is, but it hasn't been touched in six years, because I had NEVER come across a DVD that had the auto pan and scan feature.

I do know there are a few out there though.

I have since changed the setting.
