Not sure if this was the right category...but....
I have an iMac and I just bought a PowerBook. I was wondering if there was a way to listen to the music from my iMac using my PowerBook. I use iTunes and all of my music and playlists are there, but only my iMac is "authrorized" to use that account I guess? Is there perhaps a way I could use my iPod to transfer the music from my iMac to my PowerBook? Or would that be illegal? lol I would just burn CDs and transfer it that way, but it would be so time consuming and tedious cuz I have everything set up perfectly on my iMac.
All I want to do is listen to my music on my laptop! =( Can anyone help? lol
Thanks, Nicole

Probably not the right forum, buts that's ok. You can transfer your purchased iTunes songs over to your powerbook and use your apple id to authorize that computer. Or if on the same network, just start the sharing feature in iTunes.

You can play the songs you purchased from the iTunes Store on any 5 computers of your choosing and no one is going to come after you for having the files on multiple devices because the whole point of the store is that your files can be everywhere, but only a very limited number of computers can make any use of them.
When you try to play a song on your Powerbook it will ask you to authorize your computer. Enter your iTunes ID and password. iTunes will tell you that you have authorized 2 out of 5 computers and every song you purchased will be playable.

If you also have music stored on your iMac which was not bought from the itunes music store - maybe from CDs etc, you can use a cool little app that someone else on this board pointed out to me - http://www.ilinkpod.com/ What this basically does is enables you to take the music stored on your ipod and put it onto another mac. The reason Apple does not let you do this is because of legality issues, regarding you giving music to other people, but since its YOUR music you would be doing this with, I personally cant see any legal issues.
