Burning Audio-CDs in disk-at-once mode so you don't have that little gap between songs comes to mind. iTunes can't do that.

It also does other stuff like encoding video for burning DVDs etc. Maybe read its product page:

It can also do spanning to several cd's or dvd's for backup purposes. I know Backup works for that also, but if you don't have .Mac, Toast work's just as well.

Real thing is, for most users needs, built-in utilities in Mac OS X do the job just fine.

Yeah read the Roxio product page to see if it's worth the upgrade, as Toast indeed does more stuff, if you need/want to of course

Make VCDs. Create DVDs from DIVX and other such media formats. Make region-free versions of DVDs from other countries (ahem, not that I would encourage such behavior).

The Roxio product page doesn't really describe all that well what the product does to differentiate it from iTunes, iDVD, Disc Utility, etc. Is there an online manual available?

Has anyone tried DiscBlaze 6.x? If so, how good is it?

Toast lets you burn music DVD's and enhanced audio cd's. It's also easier to copy cd's/dvd's in Toast compared to Finder/Disk Utilty where you have to make a .dmg file first.
