I don't if anyone else is getting this problem but when I use Microsoft Word from the Office X suite it uses a different font size when I bring the files onto a PC. For example, if use Times font at 12 point and bring my Mac Word file over to a PC it says it's only a 10 point font. Is there any way to keep the font sizes the same?

Is this a problem with the default style settings that you have on the PC and Mac? That is, the default style on the PC sounds as though it is 12 point whereas it is set at 10 point on the Mac. Change them to match each other.

If no style has been applied to the text, then it will be using the default style settings to display it. To make sure that your document will display the same (assuming availability of fonts) learn to use and apply styles to your text... and then curse MS Word's completely **** handling of them and its appalling interface for using them. Grrr.

How do you change the font styles? I curse Microsoft for enough things so why not one more. ;-)

edited: I mean I thought I just change the font size in the fomatting pallette. There is another way?

I don't have Word v.X, but in Word 2004 you would (try to) use the Styles palette. Alternatively, go to the Format menu in the menubar and select the Styles option.

The formatting that you may want to compare and then change if they are different between the Mac and the PC are those for "Normal" and "default paragraph font":

Thanks for all the help. I think I have figured out the cause of the problem. My teacher wants my files in RTF(rich text format). What I have noticed is that in this file format I have the problem mentioned above. When I use Microsoft's .doc format then I don't have this issue.
