I had a problem sending in Mail (but I could receive). I called my ISP who told me to delete the account and make a new one. I did that and it sends and receives fine now. Trouble is all the messages in my Inbox are gone. Were they put somewhere where I can import them or are they gone-gone?

If it's a POP account and you told Mail.app to delete messages from the server after you downloaded them, and you deleted the copies on your machine, then they're gone-gone.
