Hi guys,
I have a problem. I was just given an external harddrive full of mp3s by a friend of the family . I was going through them when I found some albums I did not want. I moved them to the trash and then later tried to empty the trash. Unfortunately, I was told that the items could not be deleted because they were locked. I looked at the files. They have a small padlock beside them. I then tried to move them back to the hardrive. Instead of moving from the trash back to the hardrive, a copy was made and now I have two groups of locked mp3s that I don't want. Any idea on how to unlock these files. Much appreciation.

Select all files. Right click > Get Info. At the bottom of the General tab, there is an option 'locked'. Unselect it, and you should be fine.

Hold down option when you empty the trash, it should force the locked files to delete.
