Just upgraded to a core duo iMac, and moved my entire iTunes folder from an external firewire drive to my new "music" folder. Moved the library file into the itunes folder also. Now iTunes says it can't find any song, and I have to manually show it where it is. This is bad. The songs all show up in itunes with the right tags, but when I click to play, I get the exclamation point, and asked to find the file.

I don't want to manually update the location of 6000 songs, nor do I want to lose my tags (date added, play count, etc). Tried to find a Doug's Script to do this without luck. Anyone have any suggestions on how to automate??

Please help!!

Thanks,

Lee

Start with an empty iTunes, make a smart folder that just shows all music files, and then drag it to the iTunes icon in the dock.
Then "Consolidate Library".

Thanks for replying, but this doesn't exactly address my issue. Dragging all music to itunes adds the songs to the library, but they all appear as date-added today, and with a play count of zero. I want to restore my old metadata, including date added, play count, etc. Which is in the library when I open itunes using the old library file, but since the path has changed for all of my music, itunes can't find it, and won't adjust once I show it where one song is...problematic.
