I need to view PDFs for class. For some unknown reason, when I open them in Preview, I can see the images on the page (pictures, seam from the book they were scanned from, etc) but not the text! Is there a new version that I do not have? Is there some way that I can see this?

I also tried downloading the Plugin to use, hoping that perhaps that would be able to view the text, but it, too, only shows the images.

HELP!!!!!!

Preview is the default PDF viewer.
Have you tried the Adobe Reader?
There is a newer version, it works on my Intel iMac with 10.4.4
This may open more features than Preview does.

I get an error message when I try to download Acrobat, saying that I should try again. But it doesn't work. I am also running 10.3.9

My roommate's computer can read it, so why can't mine? Argh.

Then she's using Adobe Reader. You can do so as well:

So after doing at least 5 downloads and updates and such (which took over an hour and a half to get done), I now have a version of Adobe Reader that actually can read the PDFs. What I don't understand is why Preview cannot.

Hmmm.
Another PDF Preview issue.

This is starting to feel like the old days when Macs weren't compatible with the rest of the world...
