I am getting failures at website with java apps.
No chat, online games, etc...just a pretty pic of a coffee cup with surrounding arrows.
My 10.4.4 says that JVM 1.42 and Java 5.0 release1 are installed.
I went to Sun's website and it identified the versions, but would not load the image in their test frame.
Any suggestions on resetting it? ...or intimidating it?

Couldn't find anything at Apple support.

AppleCarre gave the solution.
Create a new user and see if that works.
Rename the Library>Preferrences folder to Preferrences.old
logout of new user
reboot
login as old user
It works to restore defaults.
Drag needed old prefs back in new prefs folder ( ie: mail, addressbook, etc)

The culprit was Adobe GoLive CS, it replaced the Java internet plugin with its own version, 1.31.

All is well on this INtel iMac.
