This might seem crazy, or I'm missing an obvious setting, but when trying to fill out forms on web pages, I usually tab through all the fields. However, I've never been able to do this with Firefox or Safari on OS X. I have to get the mouse and click the drop down field to choose a state (usually).
I can do this in Windows with no problem. Is it just me, or is there a trick that I'm not doing?
Thanks!

I bought a doughnut and they gave me a receipt for the doughnut... I don't need a receipt for the doughnut. I give you money and you give me the doughnut, end of transaction. We don't need to bring ink and paper into this. I can't imagine a scenario that I would have to prove that I bought a doughnut. To some skeptical friend, don't even act like I didn't buy a doughnut, I've got the documentation right here... It's in my file at home. ...Under "D".

1. Close Firefox.
2. Using a text editor, such as BBEdit, copy & paste the following:
// Enable tabbing to all fields in a form, as well as links.
user_pref("accessibility.tabfocus", 7) ;
3. Save the file as "user.js" (without the quotes of course).
4. Place the file in your Firefox user folder (Home > Library > Applications Support > Firefox > Profiles > SomeWeirdComboOfAlphaNumericCharactors.default) - Of course you could just save it to this location in Step 3 and avoid Step 4 altogether.
5. Restart Firefox and you're good to go.

You could probably just enter about:config in the URL bar and add the pref NeXTLoop described in there.

Wataru is right. It's about 3 or 4 lines down.

Thanks Nextloop and Wataru...that worked like a charm. I wonder why that's the default in the Windows Firefox, but not the Mac. Sure seems weird to skip the drop down boxes by default.
Oh well, that should do it. Thanks again!

Just curious...I notice that you say it includes links, and I saw that. Is there any integer that includes every form element but links? Is there a page that shows the various settings for this, or is it more of a trial and error idea?
Thanks!

FWIW, you could have simply used Full Keyboard Access in System Preferences>Keyboard&Mouse>Keyboard Shortcuts. Toggle the option for Tabbing to move between all controls.

Probably because on Windows it is standard to tab through all interface elements while on Mac by default you tab only through text fields. Different conventions on different platforms.
