Weird one.
IN Firefox, if I type in my website address (without the www or .com) it goes to a website that has a link to my website!

Now if I include the www. and the .com it's ok.

any ideas on that??

(safari no issue)

If you type in a term in the address bar that isn't a complete/valid web address, Firefox does an "I'm feeling lucky" search on Google and take you to the first hit from Google.

Very interesting.

I know that with Safari, that if you just type in the url without the www or .com it will find the url anyway.-- not so with other browsers?

I just tested, though, Firefox, with two of my other websites, and they came up fine, but my 3rd website, as I said, in Firefox, brings up another totally unrelated site.

As mduell say, when you dont apply the .com Firefox does an "I'm feeling lucky" search on Google and take you to the first hit. Two of your pages opens fine because they are #1 in the "I'm feeling lucky" search list, while the third one is not!

I consider Safari's method — to try adding .com to your address — more correct than Firefox's. But I guess clueless people can just type whatever they want into the Firefox address bar and have a chance at a useful outcome.
