I have been using a web interface called WebCT to get a lot of the learning materials for my university course recently, and it has become very tiresome because when i click on a link to a word document file in safari, it simply downloads the file, and i then have to open it manually, whereas when on my friend's windows box running internet explorer the documents simply open in the browser.

Are there any browsers which would let me have a more windows-like experience with this? or is there some way to make safari automatically open the files for me to save a few clicks?

Any help appreciated greatly

Harry.

I didn't even know it existed, but Schubert]it, maker of the great PDF Browser Plugin also has Word Browser Plugin. I think that's your best bet.

I love that plug-in. Every once in a while, it makes a .doc look screwy, so you may still need to save (the plug-in conveniently displays a save button for you). But it's great to be able to at least skim the content first..
