Hi All!
I am having so much fun with my new iMac Core Duo 2Ghz
I thought I'd give my opinion on its performance by comparing
the results of some fractal rendering benchmarks.
I chose flam3-render, version 2.7b4, that I recompiled for both
PPC and OSX X86 platforms. I generated two differetn binaries, not
a Universal one.

Rendering times, using the same test file:

iMac Core Duo 2Ghz, 1GB RAM
--------------------------
flam3-render 2.7b4 PPC (under Rosetta): 69sec
flam3-render 2.7b4 Intel: 20sec

Note: flam3-render does not appear to be a multithreaded application;
in both cases, the Activity Monitor showed ~100% CPU utilization, i.e.
only one CPU was used.

I also rendered the same test file on a P4 3.4GHZ HT, 1GB RAM

I think "The new iMac is a very solid performer, with great potential".

cool, it all looks good, it would be nice to see it running on a PPC for comparison.

Since I sold my Powerbook to get the new one, I cannot run the bench
on a PPC machine. Here is the simple test:
