Hi everyone, I'm new to the MAC world and need some help.
I just got an iMac-500mhz-20gb hdd-512 ram- cd-rw,aka Snow.
I bought a Firewire external DVD-rom.
Now, when I try to play a movie I get an announce that no valid dvd-rom can be found.
Is there a software program I can buy to get me past this obsticle?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You haven't mentioned which Mac OS version you're running, but if you're on OS X, give VLC a try:

I don't believe that the Apple DVD player app is installed when you install the OS unless the installer detects a DVD drive. This is completely stupid, but for some reason Apple thinks that this is necessary. Download an application called "Pacifist" It will allow you to install parts of the OS manually from the install CD/DVD without having to reinstall the entire thing.
