Can anyone enlighten me on what, exactly, a world leak is ??? I use Safari 1.0.3 as my primary browser and recently, Safari has alerted me that there are World Leaks occurring. Here is one of the alert messages that Safari gave me:
The following world leaks were detected (the check is done when all browser windows are closed):
1 WebView object, 1 WebFrame object, 3 WebDataSource objects, 1 WebFrameView object, 3 WebHTMLRepresentation objects, 1 JavaScript interpreter.
Do I need to be concerned ??? What can I do to eliminate these "World Leaks ???" Is there some sort of patch that is available to address this issue ??? Please advise. Thanks. Peace out . . .

The odd thing is that the dialog is appearing at all. Do you possibly have "Always check for world leaks" enabled in the Debug menu?

Yes, I do have "Always Check for World Leaks" option checked. Is that a bad thing ??? My concern is that I don't know exactly what a "World Leak" is nor do I know if I should be stressing over it. Any insight ???

From the sound of it, the "Check for world leaks" thing is a developer tool to show where memory being wasted in Safari and/or WebKit. Not really cause for concern. It just sounds like there are some minor bugs for Apple to work out.

You are still using Mac OS X 10.2, aren't you? Safari 1.0.3 is really old and has many bugs. Have you tried Camino? ( http://www.caminobrowser.org/ )
Camino's latest release still works fine with Mac OS X 10.2 and Camino is a lot more compatible with current web sites than the old Safari for OS X 10.2.

Being that this is a Debug menu option and off be default, the solution would be to turn "Always Check for World Leaks" off and leave it to the developers and testers!!

Thank you all for your guidance. I feel much better now that I have a better understanding of what "World Leaks" are and why they occur. I do have a copy of Camino and I think I will take your advice and give it a closer look. I am a die hard Safari user though so no promises yet. Oh yes, I know, I need to upgrade to Tiger ASAP. Peace out . . .

I belong to an Apple group called Apple Squires. The group meets once a month in Springfield, MO. Any and all subjects are presented and new products and updates evaluated. I brought up the subject of World Leaks. No one had ever heard of them. This web site, MacNN, I received info about from my son. He does not have an Apple but is more knowledgeable about computers than I am.
