I was thinking about getting a phone/PDA. Sprint has to be my service provider for reception issues. I hate Palm OS and I don't want a Blackberry. That leaves me with one realistic choice at this moment, which is the PPC 6700. Since this is a Windows Mobile device, I am afraid about the syncing issues on a Mac.

Does PocketMac work with this device? How well does it work? Really I want my data to go two ways and be a backup in case I ever lose everything on the device. I was hoping someone with some experience could give me some advice before I go drop some money into this.

Thanks in advance for your help.

No one has any experience with PocketMac? I guess that is a sign of warning to me.

you cant sync it, not directly with your mac anyway. while pocketmac has always sucked for me both PM ans MissingSync say that they're working on versions to support Windows Mobile 2005. We'll see. Microsoft pretty much change the entire way that the syncing is accomplished so its more than just a port, according to them it requires a pretty substantial rewrite.

What data specifically do you want to be able to sync? One of the nice things about WM2005 is that with EV-DOs constant 'Net connection you can sync over the air with your work email if you use Exchange server. So whether you're on a Mac or not all your contact info and calendar items sync, email is updated on the handset in realtime as it's received on the Exchange server, etc.

The easiest way to transfer individual items is via Bluetooth or using the MiniSD card. I got a 1 Gig for mine, its great for storing mp3s and movies. you can configure the 6700 to play anything that you can buy/download/view on your iPod.

Unfortunately there is no OS X driver yet for tethering via USB, but Bluetooth works fine with the Powerbooks.

Let me know if you have any questions, I love mine. Look for an ebay seller named sprintnetwork I think it is...I got mine from them for under 300 dollars.

CMY,
I have a question maybe you can answer for me.
This PPC6700 when used with Sprint for wireless service can be used as a broadband modem for notebooks (Its my understanding that this is not possible with Verizon).
What is important to me is being able to use it as a broadband modem with my smaller PowerBook. I have the 12" model so no PCMCIA slot for the broadband cards out there. (I have recently found adapters for this , but no longer interested if this phone will do the job)

So, question is, can this work as a broadband modem for a PowerBook? If it has to be through Bluetooth, that is fine, as long as I can get it connect to the broadband network and give my PowerBook internet access on the road.
Thanks alot!
