Is there an osx app that will do voip directly between two macs, without the need for an outside service provider? (I know there are free ones)

Is there any app that will connect VoIP via the IP address, and not an account name?

Skype, but you can't connect via IP. And what do you mean by outside service provider? That it just does direct connections?

Thanks for the reply!

By outside service provider, I meant someone outside of my network.

Can you connect two computers together via a hub or cross-over cable,(no internet connection) and do VoIP between them using Skype? I havn't looked into it, but I don't think you can, I think it needs to talk with skype.com and deal with all of the account stuff. I was looking for software that can just talk between two IP addresses.

Oh, you could use iChat with Bonjour chat and do audio chatting. But skype has better quality, and I don't think you can use it locally.

iChat with bonjour will do what you're after.
