Hi All,

A friend of mine got an email lately (he uses Mail) and the sender had attached a .vcf file. My friend double-clicked on it out of curiosity (yeah, I know, but he's trusting) and he was surprised to see the sender's address info automatically transferred to his Address Book.

So, he wants to know how to generate these files automatically in any email he sends, any suggestions? (me, I use Eudora and don't use .vcf files, but I offered to ask his question here).

Thanks in advance for any help,

Chas

If you drag a contact from the address book into a mail message, for example, it will create a .vcf file as an attachment.

You might be able to drag a .vcf into a signature, if you used a rich text email -- haven't tried that.

From the address book app you can also export groups of people together.

FWIW, in 10.4, if you go to your Address Book Preferences>vCard, if you select the "Enable private "Me" card" option it will allow you to pick which info is included in your vCard (edit your "This is Me" entry afterwards and check/uncheck the info you wish to include/exclude). You can auto-attach your vCard to an e-mail by dragging and dropping your address book entry into the signature field in Mail preferences.
