Can I allocate more memory to a program to make it run better? I'm using 10.2.8 w/ 448mb ram.

No. Unlike in OS 9, memory management in OS X is completely automatic, and virtual memory is always "on." The only way to allocate more memory to one program is to quit other running applications. Aside from that, the only thing you can do is simply add more RAM.

You could be nice to your apps.

Search - VersionTracker

OS X Apps > search: "renice"

Or search for "renice" at your favorite software site. Renice is a Unix utility that sets resource priority for open apps. Not the same as memory allocations, but as close as you'll get in 10.
