I have a Sony Mavica MVC-CD350 which save an MPEG file for movies to a 3" mini cd. I have Tiger OS 10.4.5 with Quicktime updated, also. However, it can't open Sony's MPEG file, I get the terminal spinning wheel and have to force quit. I found a converter that I thought would work, but it required that the MPEG file be opened and saved with a different name, I can't do that. Does anyone know of a conversion program that will work for this problem?

Try MPEG StreamClip

If that doesn't work, try VCDGear to convert to a normal mpeg first

Just use ffmpegx. It's the swiss army knife of Mac video.

MPEG StreamClip uses ffmpeg to parse files, and it actually puts some effort into user experience. As far as actually doing something in the program, MPEG StreamClip is a dream and ffmpegX is a nightmare. Just sayin...
